My Own Thoughts on Stopping the Hurt: A Child's Workbook About Exploring Hurt and Abuse

My Own Thoughts on Stopping the Hurt is a creative, child-friendly program designed for use with elementary-school children, filled with original exercises to foster healing, self-understanding, and optimal growth.

These popular workbooks were created to help children who have experienced trauma. Their design reflects the basic insight that many young children are not verbally oriented and find it hard to communicate what has hurt them. Each workbook provides a friendly but neutral environment, including plenty of space in which to write and draw. The exercises are balanced between left and right brain, thinking and feeling, and follow a therapeutic sequence: creating an alliance, debriefing painful memories, exploring delayed reactions, identifying resources and coping strategies, and integrating the experience.

For children aged 9 to 12
