The Boy Who Lost His Face

Author(s): Louis Sachar

Children's Fiction

David was only trying to be cool when he helped some other boys steal an old lady's cane. But when the plan backfires, he is the one whom she "curses". Now David cannot seem to do anything right. The cool kids taunt him and his only friends are weirdos. He even walks into Spenish class with his fly unzipped. And when he finally plucks up the nerve to ask out a cute girl, his trousers fall down. But is this the curse coming true, or is David turning into a total loser? First written in 1989 after There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom and before Holes, Sachar again excels in the plight of the misfit. Not as funny as the other two, but very insightful. Teenage language content makes it more suitable for 12 years and older.
