The Bulletin is dedicated to the Hungarian pediatrician, Dr Emmi Pikler. It includes excerpts from Dr. Emmi Pikler’s book for parents, Peaceful Babies – Contented Mothers; and an article by Dr. Judit Falk, former Director of the Pikler Institute.


Pikler wrote and gave lectures about the care and upbringing of infants and young children. In 1940 she published a work Peaceful Babies - Contented Mothers the message being - you must trust the child and help him in discovering his increasing abilities and the world surrounding him alone, in accordance with his own personality and rhythm.


In 1946 Emmi Pikler founded the Lczy Institute in Budapest. Under her leadership, and by the publication of books and scientific publications, an internationally known institution developed that is now managed by the child psychologist Anna Tardos. In 1984 Emmi Pikler died. This Bulletin was published in 1994.
