Author(s): Angelika Taschen

Society & Culture

Get the most out of New York. New York has so many things to see that one gets dizzy just thinking about it. Nobody can miss the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, or the Metropolitan Museum but if you want to make the most of your NYC experience - and stay out of the tourist traps - where should you sleep, eat, and shop? Angelika Taschen's hand-picked recommendations offer readers a delightful collection of Big Apple gems to choose from. Highlights include: Chelsea's midcentury Modern porthole-windowed Maritime Hotel; the elegant new Bowery Hotel, in Manhattan's latest it-neighborhood, the Lower East Side; the classic New York delicatessen, Katz; Cranberry muffins from the City Bakery at Union Square; and second-hand designer clothes at Fisch for the Hip. Tiffany's - not serving breakfast, but how about some diamonds? It also features fine linens and pyjamas from Olatz Schnabel, wife of painter and filmmaker Julian.
