DoP - November 2008, Auckland
Mike King's biography, as you would expect, is both funny and confronting: searingly honest and revealing he talks fully for the first time about his struggles with mental illness, his health, childhood, marriage, career and behind-the-scenes in the world of television.
Possibly New Zealand's best known stand-up comedian with numerous live and TV credits to his name, there is also much more to Mike King than just straight comedy. He doesn't pussy foot around tender issues such as racism, he just gets stuck in. His television appearances include Comedy Central, Game of Two Halves, Strassman, TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes, Pulp Comedy, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and most recently his own show - The Mike King Tonight Show. Mike has completed three national tours of New Zealand, his most recent being 'Return of the King'. Mike is the public face of NZ Pork and The Appliance Shed. He is also a voice for mental illness as the patron of the Phobic Trust.
