Description

Galleries, fairs, auctions, the internet, the artists themselves - the opportunities to see and buy art have never been greater, whether for investment or for the pure pleasure of living with art in our homes. In an age when beautiful interiors fill almost every magazine, supplement and TV programme we are also acutely aware of the visual possibilities of the spaces we inhabit. With this increased pride of place comes a need for guidance in what art is all about, why we choose the art we do, how to develop your unique art personality, where to place your art, how to display it, and where to source it. The first part of this handbook analyses what art actually is and explains what your art says about you. You then learn how to be your own art consultant and develop your unique art ID: how to reappraise your existing pieces, decide what art to buy, what art you like, what genre, period and price range, and above all, how to mount, frame and display it. The second part is an invaluable guide to learning more about art, its genres and specialist areas, advice on how to buy art, and an extensive directory of addresses and websites for viewing, buying and displaying art.
