Young Jac works in the circus, where his mother, Madame Zora, is the fortuneteller, and his best friend Danel works on the highwire. Jac is the puppetmaster - he carves his own wooden puppets. But then he finds his powers make people afraid of him and he is cast out of the circus, pursued by the evil Archmage. With their world in danger, Jac and Danel start a desperate search for the powerful star crystal.
