Separated from his family, Barney reunites his childhood friends for a final game of dare. At stake, the little green man, a statuette supposedly worth #250,000. As the game goes on, the friends turn on one another and exposed weaknesses and childhood traumas are ruthlessly exploited.
Simon Armitage was born in west Yorkshire in 1963, and is regarded as one of the leading poets of his generation. After university he worked as a probation officer in Manchester; he also presented Radio 4's poetry series Stanza for five years. His first prose book All Points North was published by Viking in 1998. He lives near Huddersfield.
