Percy Jackson, all-round school dunce becomes aware that not all is as it seems when, on a visit to a museum, the maths teacher turns into a deadly flying fox and his wheelchair-bound history teacher throws him his pen which turns, in mid-air, into a bronze sword. Thus begins a new life for Perseus Jackson, half-blood son of one of the Gods of Olympus and the first, of what could be many, quests to save the world from the fall-out of the internecine squabbles of the Gods. His teacher is none other than the centaur Chiron in disguise and Percy is supported on his quest by a satyr and the half-blood daughter of Athena. The quest? to retrieve Zeus?s stolen lightning bolt before war breaks out between Zeus and Hades. There?s lots of fun and play on the old Greek myths and fast action graphically described.
