Description

Ben is being bullied at school. There is a group of boys who kick him, shove him and call him names. But how can he tell his parents? Will they understand? And what if he tells them and it just gets worse?

Experienced by one in five children at school, bullying can create a legacy which can be carried from childhood through to adulthood. Parents and teachers alike can often feel helpless about how best to intervene. Designed for 7-11 year old boy and girl readers, this book is both a children's chapter book novel and a resource for parents and teachers. Written by Clinical Psychologist Dr Lucy Blunt and illustrated by her 10-year-old daughter Chloe Osborn, the book aims to 'upskill' the child. This is done by providing age appropriate information about bullying as well as skills and strategies to help 'bullyproof' the child. The children's novel is followed by a Parent/Teacher Guide, which aims to provide an informational context for the bullying dynamic and recommendations as to things the parent can do to help their child. The teacher guide also contains useful questions and group exercises which can be worked through with the class.
