Signals Issue 8 2019: A Literary Jounal

Author(s): Michael King Writers Centre

Anthologies & Essays

Signals features the work of senior secondary students who took part in the Michael King Writers Centre Young Writers Programme, as well as its alumni. The students range in age from 15 to 25.

The year's Signals is full of writing about topics that are important to the young people of today -- mental health, mulitculturalism, respect for our land and history. But these themes are important for all of us, and to have these new and energetic, passionate voices describing experience and sharing knowledge is invaluable.

Winners of the $150 Chris Cole Catley Prizes for the year, judged by Jenny Bornholdt and Paula Morris were Pilar Cruz (Rangitoto College) and Gina Holden (Auckland University).

The Young Writers Programme thanks Creative New Zealand, Joyce Fisher Charitable Trust and Penguin Random House for their support.
