Atlas 02 :a literary medical journal
Author(s): Editor: Helen Ker
Atlas is a journal of creative and nonfiction writing on medicine and the human body. It publishes a collection of poetry, short stories, critical essays and interviews by doctors, patients, medical students and artists.
The publication aims to foster a greater appreciation of creativity in medicine. It hopes to shift our medical conversations away from the rigid and prescriptive, to a form that reflects and celebrates our complexities. Atlas also offers a space for critical discussion of issues faced by the New Zealand healthcare system, its patients and their doctors.
The journal is a non-profit project made possible through the generosity of the Jacob Beck Jaffurs Scholarship and the NZMSA Student Innovation Fund. All funds generated through the selling of the publication go directly back into the cost of printing the next edition.
