The New York Botanical Garden, founded in 1891, contains one of the world's great collections of plants and is an international center for plant research. Pierre-Joseph Redoute [1759-1840] is one of art history's most famous botanical artists. His masterwork, Les Liliacees, comprised a set of 486 watercolor floral portraits from which the images in these titles are drawn.
